Android phone and tablet owners will now be able to download books onto their device directly from the Android Market webstore after Google updated the online portal.
The upgrade was sparked by the yesterday's US launch of the Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 tablet, which featured Google Books within its Market app. Google was quick to act in adding it's books library to the webstore also.
Just like the app portion of the site, readers will be able to browse free, best-selling and new content, while comparing both reader and critical reviews before downloading the book.
Naturally the download process is seamless, with titles downloaded from the webstore automatically added to the Google Books app on your handset.
At the time of writing the webstore upgrade was only live in the US, but we'd imagine a UK launch is imminent.
